English side Bolton, has appealed to FIFA for possible fraud on the part of Barcelona in the transfer of Marcos Alonso, Radio “Cadena Ser” reports. The defender arrived at Camp Nou last summer from Chelsea and according to official information, it was a free transfer.
However, the English club believes that the Catalans are lying and waiting to receive money. Alonso played for Bolton as a 19-year-old, and according to FIFA rules, any club where a player was between their 12th and late 19th birthdays must take a percentage of the fee on any of his future transfers. In that summer Alonso arrived at Barca as a free agent from Chelsea, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left for Stamford Bridge from the Blaugrana for 12 million euros. At least according to official information, these are two different transactions that have nothing in common.
Bolton, however, claim that Aubameyang’s announced price of 12 million was below his market value at the time, which is why they doubt that in this case Alonso was part of this deal, but this was deliberately hidden. If this is true, then Barca must pay a percentage of the amount the Spaniard was valued at in the contract in question.
