Porto stunned Arsenal with a goal in the dying seconds to get a 1-0 win in their 1/8-final Champions League clash. The Gunners had a disapointing night in Portugal, failing to record a single shot on target for the whole 90 minutes.
Porto squandered a fantastic opportunity to take the lead in the 21st minute when Galeno received the ball in Arsenal’s penalty area and shot with his first touch straight into the right post. Galeno followed up with a rebound, but failed to find the target.
Bukayo Saka broke in from the right and entered the penalty area, attempting to cross, but his shot was blocked, and the ball landed directly on the crossbar of Diogo Costa’s goal in the 34th minute.
Pepe broke through the right wing and entered Arsenal’s penalty area, then passed the ball to Eranilsen, whose shot in the 66th minute was blocked by Declan Rice, preventing a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
Francisco Conceicao made a dangerous breakthrough on the right wing in the 83rd minute, then delivered a sharp cross into the penalty area, but there David Raya managed to outpace Porto’s players and catch the ball.
In the fourth minute of added time, Lucas Trossard made a misplaced pass, and Porto seized the opportunity. The ball reached Wenderson Galeno, who, undisturbed, shot from the middle. The Brazilian fired a fantastic curling shot, sending the ball right into the space between the crossbar and the left post, leaving David Raya with no chance to save it.
