Manchester United suffered their fourth defeat in Premier League in just nine rounds

Manchester United suffered a setback as West Ham United clinched a 2-1 victory over them in a hard-fought Premier League match on Sunday. Both teams entered the game with ambitions of moving into the top half of the league, but United was left disappointed after a late penalty converted by Jarrod Bowen decided the outcome.

United began the match on the front foot, with Alejandro Garnacho striking the post early on and chances for Casemiro, Marcus Rashford, and Diogo Dalot testing the West Ham defense. In the second half, manager Erik ten Hag substituted Rashford for Amad Diallo, aiming to increase United’s attacking threat. However, it was another substitute, Crysencio Summerville, who gave United the lead in the 74th minute.

West Ham responded quickly, with Casemiro leveling the game seven minutes later, heading in from a Joshua Zirkzee cross. Just as it seemed the match might end in a draw, a VAR review determined that Matthijs de Ligt had committed a foul, awarding West Ham a penalty in the 92nd minute. Bowen confidently converted, handing West Ham the victory and piling pressure on Ten Hag and his side.
