Newcastle paid record-breaking fee to sign Sandro Tonali from AC Milan this summer, but could end up losing him up to three years if he is found guilty on illegal bets.
Tonali is believed to have done this while he was a Milan player until the end of last season.
“Newcastle must prove that Milan knew that the player in question gambled while he was part of the club, but kept it a secret. But, as far as I know the Italian clubs, it seems almost impossible for Newcastle to prove this”, said a lawyer to Sky Sport Italia.
“Otherwise, Newcastle have the right to terminate Tonali’s contract right away if it is proven that he has been hiding these bets from his club. The club would even have the right to sue him for lost profits if his rights were to be suspended,” continued Capello.

At the moment, there is information that illegal bets, at that in illegal platforms, were also made by Nicolo Zaniolo, Nicolo Fagioli and Nikola Zalewski.
