Feyenoord boss Arne Slot has been confirmed as Liverpool’s new manager. The Reds reached a compensation agreement worth $11.9m with the Dutch club in April after identifying the 45-year-old as the successor to Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
Klopp, who had been in charge of Liverpool since October 2015, departed the club following their season-finale win against Wolves on Sunday. Slot will officially begin his tenure at Liverpool on June 1, pending a work permit.
Slot led Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title in the 2022-23 season and this season they have won the Dutch Cup and finished second in the league. His attacking style, personality, and ability to develop players were key factors in Liverpool’s decision to appoint him as manager.
We can announce Arne Slot has agreed a deal to become the club’s new head coach, formally taking up the position on June 1, 2024, subject to a work permit 🙌

Slot took over as Feyenoord manager in 2021 and expressed his interest in managing in the Premier League when linked with Tottenham in 2023. Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, who guided Bayer Leverkusen to their first Bundesliga title this season, was also considered for the position at Anfield. However, the 42-year-old Spaniard ended speculation in March by confirming he would stay with Leverkusen.
