Barcelona midfielder Pedri has made several lifestyle changes, including alterations to his diet, to address his injury issues.
The 21-year-old midfielder is currently sidelined with another injury, with muscle problems significantly limiting his playing opportunities over the past few seasons.
The Spanish international has started only 39 out of the possible 94 La Liga matches since the beginning of the 2021-22 season and will miss the upcoming game against his former club Las Palmas in the middle of the week.
Pedri believes that the excessive number of matches during the 2020-21 season, his first season at Barcelona, where he played consistently for the Catalan club, the Spanish national team, and the Spain U-23 team during the Olympic Games, may have played a role in his subsequent injuries.
Now, the midfielder explained that he has made changes to his lifestyle off the field, including a new diet, to avoid further setbacks. “My first season at the club was so long,” Pedri told streamer Ibai Llanos on his Twitch channel. “I played 73 matches, and perhaps that has had an impact on my current condition. We won’t know, but at that time, I had the desire to conquer the world.”
“Everyone says that once you get the first injury, it’s easier to have new ones. But now I am working both physically and psychologically to ensure that injuries will not recur. I changed my diet, and now I’m also doing Pilates on the recommendation of Carles Puyol,” added Pedri.
