Alcântara will have a crucial role in helping the German manager get up to speed with the idiosyncrasies at Barcelona, and the ex-Spain international knows both the team and the manager well from his playing career.
“Alcântara is set to spend the next several weeks as part of Hansi Flick’s team in order to train as a coach,” the Catalan team confirmed. “The ex-footballer is expected to remain with the men’s football 1st team for the entire offseason and, therefore, will travel with the team to the USA.”
Thiago is a La Masia product and played 101 matches for the 1st team before his transfer to Bayern Munich in 2013. Alcântara, after that, played under Flick at the Bavarian club and was a crucial part of the squad that triumphed with the treble 4 years ago.
The Spaniard played only 1 match for Liverpool in the past campaign and announced that he would no longer play football after his deal expired at the end of the past month.
